SB 309: Anti-solar bill
Just as the residential solar industry is growing in Indiana, monopoly utilities are attempting to shut it down by pushing a bill that would end net metering, one of the main reasons home solar is a good investment. The bill is long and complicated, and has been amended several times to remove the most blatantly unjustifiable parts, but it is still unacceptable and our legislators need to hear from us.
Proponents of the bill claim that net metering is a subsidy for solar owners, but there is no data supporting this claim. In fact, studies in other states have shown that net metering is a benefit to utilities and their non-solar customers.
You can help by asking your state senator and representative to oppose SB 309, and instead call for a study so that Indiana’s energy policy can be based on data, not the unfounded narrative of the utility companies. It’s easy and all you need to know including where to call can be found at http://sfa.sirensolar.org/SB309 or by clicking the links in the description.
